From September 2014 the exciting new GSCE in Computing, based on problem-based learning ,replaced the old ICT curriculum.
The aim of the national curriculum for Computing is to ensure students can understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, including abstraction, logic, algorithms and data representation.
The core of Computing is Computer Science, where pupils are taught computation principles and how digital systems work.
What is Computer Science?
Computer Science is the study of practices and principles that help the learner to understand computation.
As a Computer Science Teacher you will focus on teaching your students how computers and computer systems work, and how they are designed and programmed.
This exciting new curriculum installs the Computer Science Teacher with the capacity to develop and teach creative lesson plans and schemes of work, with a view to equipping learners to use computational thinking and creativity to understand many aspects of the world, helping them to appreciate that computational ideas are intrinsically linked with other disciplines such as Science, Maths, Design technology and Engineering.
