Languages Graduate Teaching Assistant Job – Faculty Support Assistant

Key Skills Education are currently recruiting for a Languages Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in Lambeth. This is an excellent opportunity for a Languages graduate looking to gain valuable experience within a secondary school and develop their classroom, pastoral and administrative skills.

The role is varied and will involve supporting the Modern Foreign Languages department, working as a Teaching Assistant, providing cover for lessons when teachers are absent and assisting with the general administration of the faculty.

 The Languages Graduate Teaching Assistant Job Role:

• Supporting students within Languages lessons as a Teaching Assistant
• Providing classroom support to students who require additional help with their learning
• Covering lessons across the school when teachers are absent, acting as a Cover Supervisor
• Delivering pre-prepared work and ensuring students remain engaged and on task
• Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment during cover lessons
• Supporting teachers with the preparation of classroom resources and learning materials
• Assisting the Languages department with general administrative tasks
• Helping to organise departmental resources and maintain accurate records
• Providing general support to the Head of Department and teaching staff
• Potentially supporting students with their spoken and written language development
• Building positive relationships with students and staff across the school

 The Ideal Candidate:

• A degree in Modern Foreign Languages, Languages or a related subject
• Strong academic background and a genuine interest in education
• Confident working with secondary-age students
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to manage a classroom confidently when working as a Cover Supervisor
• Organised and comfortable undertaking administrative duties
• Reliable, proactive and able to use their own initiative
• Previous experience working with young people, tutoring, mentoring or within a school would be advantageous but is not essential
• An excellent opportunity for a graduate considering a future career in teaching
