Learning Mentor – PRU / Alternative Provision (SEMH) – North London

We are seeking a Learning Mentor to join an Alternative Provision/PRU in North London, supporting pupils aged 11–16 who have been excluded from mainstream education.

Students at the provision present with a range of SEMH needs. While not typically aggressive, they can display challenging behaviour, so this role requires a calm, resilient and consistent approach.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to learners
  • Supporting behaviour and engagement both in and out of the classroom
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students
  • Encouraging pupils to manage their emotions and re-engage with learning
  • Working as part of a wider, therapeutic and supportive team

Requirements:

  • Experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviour (PRU, alternative provision or mainstream)
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to motivate and engage disengaged learners
  • Team player with a proactive and positive approach

This is a full-time role and candidates should be able to commit for the full academic year.

The provision offers a supportive environment with strong leadership and a collaborative team focused on achieving positive outcomes for students.

If you have relevant experience and are looking for a rewarding role for the upcoming academic year, please send your CV to apply.
