Teaching Assistant – Behaviour & SEMH Support | Secondary School | Lambeth | Immediate Start

Our client, a secondary school in Lambeth, is seeking a Teaching Assistant to work within their SEN department, supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and behavioural difficulties. This is a fixed-term role to start immediately and continue for the remainder of the academic year.

Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH or behavioural challenges
• Work closely with the SENCO, Behaviour Lead and classroom teachers to implement support plans
• Help students develop positive behaviour strategies, self-regulation and social skills
• Assist in maintaining a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
• Support pupils in class and during transitions around the school
• Build positive, trusting relationships to help improve engagement and attendance

Requirements:

• Experience working with young people with SEMH or behavioural difficulties ideally within a PRU or other specialist environment
• Strong interpersonal and de-escalation skills, with a calm and patient approach
• Resilient, empathetic and committed to supporting students’ wellbeing and progress
• Previous experience in a school or youth support setting preferred
• Graduates or experienced Teaching Assistants encouraged to apply
