SEN Teaching Assistant – KS1 (Autism & Speech and Language Needs)
Location: Camden
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, long-term (with potential to become permanent)

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Camden is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a cohort of children in Key Stage 1.

This role involves working with pupils who are predominantly on the autism spectrum, alongside some children with speech and language needs. The school is looking for someone who is proactive, patient, and confident leading small group interventions as well as providing 1:1 support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support a group of KS1 pupils with autism and speech & language needs

• Deliver targeted small group interventions and structured activities

• Provide 1:1 support tailored to individual learning and emotional needs

• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals

• Adapt resources and approaches to support engagement and communication

• Help create a positive, structured, and nurturing learning environment

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with SEN children in a primary school setting

• Strong understanding of autism and speech & language difficulties

• Confident running small groups and taking initiative in sessions

• Patient, empathetic, and consistent approach

• Ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff

• Creative and proactive with ideas to support learning and development
