English Teacher | September start

Key Skills Education are recruiting an enthusiastic and experienced English Teacher for a larger-than-average comprehensive school in East London, starting September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and forward-thinking school with a strong English department. The role is offered on a long-term basis with a clear pathway to a permanent position, as the current post holder will be leaving at the end of the academic year.

English is a popular subject within the school, particularly at Sixth Form, so there may be opportunities to teach KS5 for the right candidate.

  • Teaching English across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Opportunity to teach KS5 (desirable)
  • Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons
  • Supporting students of mixed abilities to achieve strong outcomes
  • Working collaboratively within a successful English department

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds QTS (or equivalent recognised in the UK)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ UK teaching experience in English
  • Strong knowledge of the KS3 and KS4 curriculum
  • Experience teaching KS5 desirable but not essential
  • Confident classroom practitioner with strong behaviour management
  • Committed, reliable and a strong team player
