We are recruiting for a part-time Chef to join a friendly childcare setting in the Leyton area, close to Walthamstow.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cook or chef looking for daytime working hours with no evenings, weekends or split shifts.

For this Nursery Chef job, we are looking for somebody to take responsibility for preparing fresh meals and snacks for young children while maintaining high standards of food hygiene and kitchen organisation.

Part-Time Chef Role

This is a standalone kitchen position where you will manage meal preparation and food safety on a daily basis.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing fresh, healthy meals and snacks each day
• Following seasonal menus and adapting meals for dietary requirements
• Managing food allergies and allergen procedures safely
• Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment
• Completing food temperature checks and kitchen records
• Ordering and managing food supplies and stock levels
• Ensuring compliance with food hygiene and health and safety regulations
• Supporting positive mealtime experiences for children

Nursery Chef Job Requirements

Applicants should have:

• Previous experience working as a Chef, Cook or Kitchen Assistant
• Good understanding of food hygiene and food safety procedures
• Knowledge of allergens and special dietary requirements
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
• Ability to work independently and manage a small kitchen
• Good organisational and time-management skills
• A reliable and positive approach to work

Experience within a nursery, school, care home or similar environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
