Attendance and Welfare Lead | Secondary School | Immediate Start

A well-regarded secondary school is seeking an Attendance Officer to join their pastoral team. This is a key role responsible for driving high standards of attendance and punctuality, strengthening relationships with families, and supporting the school’s inclusive and values-driven ethos.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead whole-school attendance and punctuality strategies, aiming for excellent attendance across the school
  • Track, monitor and report attendance and punctuality data, setting and reviewing measurable improvement targets
  • Hold SAP meetings with persistently absent students and liaise with external agencies, including Court Panels
  • Build strong, positive relationships with parents and carers to support student engagement
  • Work closely with Advisory Teams to embed consistent attendance routines and expectations
  • Apply the school’s behaviour policy to support a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Identify barriers to attendance/punctuality and develop targeted interventions
  • Support the onboarding of in-year admissions and the reintegration of students returning after long absences
  • Represent the school in meetings with external stakeholders and prepare reports for Governors and agencies
  • Ensure the safety, wellbeing and safeguarding of all students
  • Promote participation in extracurricular activities and uphold the school’s ethos

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent (ideally with behavioural science or psychology components)
  • Experience supporting young people academically and behaviourally in a school or similar setting
  • Experience analysing performance data and implementing interventions

Desirable:

  • Teaching qualification or relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g., NPQ)
  • Evidence of continuous professional development, including Level 3 Safeguarding
  • Experience delivering high-quality education or student support programmes
  • Proven track record of driving measurable improvements in student outc
