SEN Teaching Assistant required for a primary school in Romford to start in September.

The role will involve providing 1:1 support for a child with autism in Key Stage 1 within the mainstream school, as well as supporting pupils within the school’s specialist resource provision. You will work closely with teachers, SEN professionals and other support staff to deliver tailored support and create a positive learning environment.
This position would suit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or someone with a background supporting children with autism and additional needs. Graduates considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology or speech and language therapy are also encouraged to apply.
The SEN Teaching Assistant Job Role
- Supporting a child with autism on a 1:1 basis within a KS1 classroom
- Assisting pupils with a range of additional needs within the specialist provision
- Implementing personalised learning and behaviour support strategies
- Encouraging communication, social interaction and independence
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
- Supporting pupils both in class and during structured intervention sessions
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND, particularly autism
- Patient, nurturing and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
- Experience in a school, nursery, care or youth work setting would be advantageous
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
