SEN Teacher – SEN Base | June 2026 Start | Long-Term to July 2027 | Romford
A welcoming and supportive school is seeking a qualified SEN Teacher to join their specialist SEN base from 15th June 2026. This is a long-term position initially through to July 2027, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.
The role will involve teaching pupils from Reception to Year 6 within a specialist provision supporting children with autism, pre-verbal communication needs, and complex learning needs. The provision consists of two classrooms with strong support from an experienced HLTA team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established setting where the current teacher has been in post since September and is leaving due to a promotion.
The Role
- SEN Teacher within a specialist SEN base
- Teaching Reception to Year 6 pupils
- Supporting autistic pupils with complex and pre-verbal needs
- Working closely with HLTAs and the wider SEN team
- Full-time position starting 15th June 2026
- Long-term contract through to July 2027
- Potential permanent opportunity available
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) essential
- Experience working within SEN settings
- Knowledge of TACPAC, Attention Autism and the SCERTS framework
- Confident supporting pupils with autism and complex needs
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Positive handling training would be advantageous
