SEN Teaching Assistant | ADHD and Autism | Immediate Start | Year 2
A supportive and inclusive primary school in the London Borough of Newham is seeking a confident and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in Year 2 with Autism and ADHD.
This is a full-time, long-term role ideal for a resilient and proactive Teaching Assistant who is confident setting clear boundaries and managing challenging behaviour within a primary school setting.
The Role
- Full-time SEN Teaching Assistant position
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child in Year 2 with Autism and ADHD
- Supporting the child both inside and outside the classroom
- Helping to improve focus, emotional regulation, and classroom engagement
- Implementing consistent behaviour management strategies and routines
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD, or behavioural needs
- Strong behaviour management skills and confidence setting clear boundaries
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Able to build positive and consistent relationships with pupils
- Proactive and able to use initiative when supporting challenging behaviour
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Behaviour Mentor
- Experience supporting Key Stage 1 or Lower Key Stage 2 pupils
- Understanding of strategies to support emotional regulation and attention needs
- SEN-related training or qualifications are advantageous but not essential
