A welcoming and supportive primary school in Romford is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for an autistic child currently in Reception and transitioning into Year 1.

This is a fantastic long-term opportunity for a passionate and proactive SEN practitioner looking to further develop their experience supporting children with Autism within a nurturing primary school setting.

The Role

  • Full-time SEN Teaching Assistant position
  • 1:1 support for a child with Autism transitioning from Reception into Year 1
  • Supporting learning, communication, emotional regulation, and classroom engagement
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff
  • Creating a positive and structured learning environment tailored to the child’s needs

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience supporting children with Autism in a primary school or EYFS setting
  • Strong understanding of SEN and Autism support strategies
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • A proactive team player who can also work independently
