A welcoming and child-centred nursery in the Waltham Forest area is seeking an experienced Deputy Nursery Manager to join their leadership team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Early Years professional who enjoys supporting staff development while remaining actively involved in children’s learning and day-to-day nursery life.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Nursery Manager to help lead a well-organised setting where children’s wellbeing, development and relationships are at the heart of everything they do.
Deputy Nursery Manager Role
As Deputy Nursery Manager, you will play a key role in the leadership and daily operation of the nursery. This is a hands-on position that combines leadership responsibilities with direct involvement in children’s learning and development.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Nursery Manager with the day-to-day running of the nursery
- Acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and supporting safeguarding practice across the setting
- Leading and motivating practitioners to deliver high-quality Early Years provision
- Supporting staff with observations, planning and professional development
- Building positive relationships with parents, carers and external professionals
- Ensuring the nursery remains a safe, organised and engaging environment
- Taking responsibility for the nursery in the Manager’s absence
- Supporting compliance with EYFS requirements, safeguarding procedures and nursery policies
Requirements for the Deputy Nursery Manager Job
Applicants should have:
- A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (Level 5 desirable)
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Third in Charge, Senior Practitioner or Room Leader
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework
- Experience supporting safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- A genuine passion for supporting young children’s development
- The ability to mentor and support colleagues effectively
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- Nursery operating hours between 8:00am and 6:00pm
