SEN Teacher | Special School | Complex Needs | Primary Provision | Barking
A specialist SEN school in Barking is looking to appoint a qualified SEN Teacher for an immediate start within their primary provision.
This is a long-term opportunity working with pupils with complex needs, many of whom are working below Key Stage expectations and require a highly personalised, sensory-led approach to learning.
The successful teacher will take responsibility for a small class of pupils aged approximately 7–10 and will join a supportive, well-established team with excellent in-class support from experienced teaching assistants.
The role includes:
- Teaching within a specialist primary SEN setting
- Supporting pupils with complex learning needs and autism
- Working with non-verbal pupils using structured communication approaches and visual symbols
- Delivering a sensory and engagement-based curriculum
- Creating a calm, nurturing and highly inclusive learning environment
- Working closely with therapists, support staff and families

Applicants must:
- Hold QTS or QTLS
- Have previous experience supporting pupils with complex SEN
- Be confident working with non-verbal communication needs
- Have a patient, flexible and proactive approach
- Be comfortable supporting personal care and feeding where required
